Boynton Beach, Florida

The Jewel of Palm Beach County

It was 1894, one year after the last Barefoot Mailman walked along its sandy shores and two years before Henry Flagler built his famous railroad, that a former Civil War major from Port Huron, Michigan named Nathan S. Boynton first set eyes on the area that now bears his name. He was so impressed by the natural beauty of what he saw, the year-round sunshine and pristine beaches, that he returned a year later with a group of colonists and built the famous Boynton Beach Hotel to serve as his family's summer residence. The first settlers soon realized than an unlimited assorment of fruits and vegetables thrived in the fertile climate. Cultivated pineapples, tomatoes, mangos, oranges, lemons, grapefruits and limes were packed in crates and shipped by the ton on the newly built Florida East Coast Railroad to satisfy the appetities of hungry Americans across the country. Boynton Beach remained a fairly unknown tropical paradise known for its perfect weather and delicious produce until the end of World War Two. Soldiers returning home from the war discovered that the small town located on only fifty miles north of Miami was an extraordinarilly healthy place to raise a family. In addition, Boynton Beach's close proximity to the Atlantic's Gulfstream soon yielded a bonanza of world-record catches and guarantee that the best kept secret on Florida's Gold Coast would be a secret no longer. Since that time, Boynton Beach has grown steadily and never looked back. The city's polulation has risen from 5,000 in 1958 to a present number of approximately 65,000 residents. High growth areas include the newly revitalized downtown around Ocean Avenue and the area west of Military Trail. Most importantly, Boynton Beach has expanded while retaining the charm of her orange groves, fishing marina and sandy beaches.

Coconut Creek, Florida

Deerfield Beach, Florida

Known for it's serene beaches, Deerfield Beach is the pride of Broward County, located on the Atlantic Ocean, just two miles south of the Palm Beaches and twenty miles north of Fort Lauderdale.

In the early 1900's when the railroad tracks bisecting Deerfield were bordered on both sides by pineapple patches, train passengers did a double take.  As soon as the train stopped to take on water, some leaped off to snatch the exotic fruit.  Today, the pineapples are no more, and Deerfield Beach is a thriving coastal city.  Although primarily an agricultural village until the late 1940's, now Deerfield Beach is considered a tourist Mecca and in the Year 2000 received the Blue Wave award for one of the most pristine beaches in the State of Florida.  The City of Deerfield Beach has earned this award designation from the Clean Beach Council.  This award is based on specific criteria, which include excellence in water quality, beach conditions, safety services, public information and habitat conservation.

Deerfield Beach offers visitors many types of hotels, motels and Inns.  You will find deluxe oceanfront accommodations, budget motels and a few of the best inns you have ever visited.  I suggest that you contact the establishments and request specific details.

Deerfield Beach offers some exquisite dining opportunities.  From a five-course meal served next to the ocean, to a wooden table overlooking the fishing boats. The food served consists of local seafood to international fare!    There is something for everyone.
